Recently, I woke up in a funky mood. I had a list of work projects in front of me, things I usually love, and every time I moved toward one of them I felt worse. At that moment, none of it felt aligned. Then I got a ping: go upstairs and organize your closet. It was something I had been meaning to do for a while, and the idea actually excited me. As soon as I started on it, my mood lifted, and I had a joyful, productive morning. Following that little nudge reminded me that joy isn’t a distraction from what we’re meant to do. It can be the direction. In this episode, four beautiful souls came for guidance with very different concerns, and the same message came through for all of them: listen to what feels good, and trust it. Key takeaways from this episode: When you’re emotionally stirred up, guidance is hard to hear. Being present with what you feel is what clears the signal. A fear-based choice moves you away from something. A joy-based choice moves you toward what you actually want. There’s nothing wrong with wanting stability, but if the safe option doesn’t excite you, keep asking what does. You don’t have to leap all at once. Honoring both the part of you that’s ready and the part that isn’t lets a big change happen in stages. Forcing a dream doesn’t speed it up. Let it build while you learn and align. Doing what you want isn’t selfish. It’s often exactly what the people who love you most want for you. Quiet your mind and let your joy be your guide. What if not knowing what's going to happen is part of what makes life fun? While watching my beloved Detroit Pistons in a playoff elimination game, I desperately wanted to know how it was going to end. So naturally, I started pulling oracle cards. The first told me I was too close to the situation and needed to step back. The second told me to calm down. By the third, the message was unmistakable: Stop trying to figure out what's going to happen. Be present. I kept pulling cards to find out how the game would end. The cards kept telling me to put the cards down and watch the game. In this episode, we explore why it can be so hard to sit with uncertainty, and what becomes possible when we stop trying to control how things turn out. The guides take the lesson far beyond basketball, exploring why the need to know can pull us out of the flow, and why the unknown isn't something we need to overcome. It's part of the adventure. Key takeaways from this episode: When we're preoccupied with what's going to happen, we can miss what's happening right now. Presence helps us release the need to control the outcome and return to the natural flow of life. The unknown isn't a flaw in the human experience. It's part of what makes the game exciting. Fear of disappointment can lead us to choose what feels safe or guaranteed rather than what we truly want. One disappointing outcome doesn't define the larger journey. The long game is always bigger than any single experience. When something doesn't go the way we hoped, we can feel what we feel and then ask: Where do I want to go now? You can root for your team. You can want what you want. Just don't get so caught up in how the game will end that you forget to enjoy the experience. There is no one right way to connect with spirit. Mediumship is a natural ability, but how we experience that connection is uniquely our own. Learning to recognize how spirit communicates with you can make all the difference. In this episode, I sit down with psychic medium and Reiki master Francie Soito for a fascinating conversation about what mediumship actually feels like from the inside. Francie shares her unexpected journey from a self-described left-brained data scientist who didn't believe in anything woo to discovering her own ability to sense, feel, and communicate with spirit. We talk about why communicating with spirit isn't like having a regular conversation, how different mediums receive information in completely different ways, and why understanding your own natural strengths can help you open your connection. Francie also shares practical ways to connect with loved ones in spirit, recognize the signs they're sending, and become more receptive to the messages that are already around you. Key takeaways from this episode: • Mediumship looks different for everyone. Some people see, some hear, some feel, and some simply know. • Spirit communication can be subtle. Rather than expecting a clear conversation or unmistakable sign, notice the impressions, feelings, words, and images that come through. • Start with your strongest intuitive sense. Work with what's already natural for you, while staying open to how your abilities may change and expand. • Connecting with spirit requires surrender. You can ask a question or set an intention, but then you have to let go of your expectations and allow what wants to come through. • Our loved ones often reach us when our minds are quiet, including when we're falling asleep, waking up, or doing familiar activities that don't require much thought. • You can ask your loved ones for specific signs, but stay open to how they appear. If you think something is a sign and it makes you feel good, trust it. There is no one right way to connect with spirit. Your gifts are uniquely yours, and the more you honor how they're already showing up, the more they can grow. Abundance isn't something you chase. It's something you are. On a recent beach walk, I got to thinking about a friend, a fairly well-known spiritual teacher who has struggled a lot around money. It got me thinking about a disconnect I see all the time: so many deeply spiritual people, tapped into spirit and doing beautiful things in the world, still experience a sense of lack around monetary abundance. So I turned the question over to the guides, and what they shared blew me away. In this episode, we explore where the belief that spirituality and wealth don't mix comes from, why money can pull us out of the natural flow of giving and receiving, and what keeps so many of us stuck in a sense of lack. Most importantly, the guides offer a way through: a shift in how we hold money, a practice for clearing the old wounds and beliefs beneath our relationship with it, and a reminder that money is only one expression of a much larger flow of abundance already available to us. Key takeaways from this episode: • Spiritual connection and financial abundance are not opposites, though many of us were taught to believe they are. • The idea of noble poverty runs through much of our spiritual history, and it still shapes how we relate to money today. • Money is only a representation of abundance, and clinging to it can actually take us out of the flow. • When we focus on what's missing, we stay stuck in scarcity. • Abundance is energy, and money is just one of the forms it can take. • Many of our beliefs about money were formed in childhood. When we bring love and awareness to these limiting beliefs, they release. When we stop treating spirituality and abundance as opposites, both are free to flow. AI can think. But does that mean it's conscious? My friend and returning guest Chris Niebauer is a neuropsychologist and the bestselling author of No Self, No Problem, The No Self, No Problem Workbook, and his new book, The Abstract Mind. He has spent years exploring the relationship between the brain, the thinking mind, and consciousness, which makes him the perfect person to join me for this fascinating conversation about AI.In this episode, we explore a question that is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore: Can artificial intelligence actually be conscious? The answer may depend on something even more fundamental: whether thinking and consciousness are the same thing. Our conversation challenges the enormous value our society places on the thinking mind and considers what AI might be revealing about our own consciousness. If a machine can think faster and perhaps even better than we can, what does that tell us about who we really are? We explore consciousness as something far greater than thought, intuition as a deeper form of knowing, and what becomes possible when the mind stops running the show and becomes a tool for something greater.Key takeaways from this episode:Thinking and consciousness are not the same thing. AI's ability to manipulate language and information doesn't necessarily answer the question of whether it is conscious. We have spent centuries defining ourselves by our ability to think. AI may be forcing us to reconsider whether thinking is really what makes us who we are.The thinking mind is an extraordinary tool, but we may rely on it far more than we need to.If consciousness doesn't originate in the brain, we may need to rethink what it means for AI to be conscious.Intuition comes from a deeper place than thought. When we quiet the thinking mind, we create more space for that deeper knowing to guide us.The mind doesn't have to lead. It can become a tool for intuition, allowing us to move through life with greater flow, ease, and trust.Maybe the rise of artificial intelligence isn't just asking us to understand machines differently. Maybe it's inviting us to understand ourselves differently too.Explore more of Chris Niebauer’s work on the mind, consciousness, and the science of self at ChrisNiebauerPhD.comWhat if the way we think is also what keeps us stuck? Is communicating with spirit reserved for a gifted few, or available to us all?Recently I came across a post from a well-respected medium pushing back on the popular idea that everyone is a medium. Her concern was a fair one: not everyone is trained to receive clear, accurate messages for other people, and treating mediumship as universal can gloss over the real skill and responsibility that professional work requires. I understand that completely. And I still believe we're all mediums. We're all spiritual beings having a human experience, and we're all innately connected to the spiritual realm, including our loved ones in spirit. Whether you train to receive messages from spirit professionally, or simply communicate for your own edification, the ability belongs to everyone. In this episode I share my own unconventional path into mediumship, why I resisted the word for years, and why I've come to believe that integrity, love, and a genuine desire to serve matter more than proving anything or doing it someone else's way.Key takeaways from this episode:Connection goes both ways. You can reach toward spirit, and spirit is always reaching toward youMediumship doesn't look the same for everyone. It might come through dreams, signs, words, feelings, or a simple knowingWe often feel blocked because we're expecting too much, or waiting for the information to arrive in a certain way. Start with what's already flowingStay curious and playful. Spirit isn't serious, and forcing it only gets in the wayGrief can cloud our ability to sense a loved one's presence.
