In a show that is equal parts celebration, reflection, and anticipation, Wayne and Kevin reach the one hundred episode milestone with the same curiosity and excitement about film photography that Kelley and Kevin had when they recorded show #1 just over eight years ago. The Shutter Brothers take time to reflect on all that has changed since then, and then they dive right into the future - their 5th Annual Photowalk with the Shutter Brothers on October 24 in Huntsville, Alabama. The Show wraps up with some great listener email and a recap of Kevin's recent trip to Ireland. Thanks for listening, and Happy Photography!
It's late September, and the leaves in much of North America are finally beginning to show their fall colors. Perhaps this helped inspire Shutter Brother Wayne to open his box of beautiful 4x5 color transparencies (yes, Wayne once shot color!) and lay them out on the light table and think about how to scan them. Since Wayne has never before scanned film, he would really like some help from our faithfull listeners. Recently, Wayne visited a local estate sale that featured some photography gear, included somthing at Wayne hoped to bring home. And he would have succeded if it hadn't been for that breakfast sandwhich he stopped for on the way. Nevertheless, he did come away with several interesting items with "Hasselblad" on them. Listen to find out what they are. Next, Kevin discusses a photo book that left him confused after the first and second time through. The book is Skogen by Robert Adams, a photographer near and dear to Kevin's heart. Listen to find out what happened on the third pass. The 5th Annual Photowalk with the Shutter Brothers is scheduled for Saturrday, October 24, in Huntsville, Alabama. Wayne and Kevin would love to see you there, and you an see all the details here. Happy Photography everyone! Now go get some good pictures!

Kevin recently discovered a fascinating book about Grant and his amazing National Park photography, and he reviews it on the show. With apologies to our southern hemisphere listeners, it's been really hot here in eastern Tennessee - so hot, in fact, that neither Wayne nor Kevin have felt very much like getting out with a camera. So, what does a dedicated photographer do when it's too hot to shoot? Lot's of things, actually, and the Shutter Brothers happily share some things to do when you can't get out. Meanwhile, Wayne had been busy making more prints for his Random Works of Art project, and pretty soon some lucky people will have the chance to own a genuine Wayne Setser print. Finally, the Shutter Bros read some great emails from our faithful listeners. Our show notes can be found at www.unclejonesyscameras.blogspot.com. Happy Photography!
Wayne and Kevin have a friendly discussion (arguement) over the authenticity of photographs that are printed by someone other then the photographer are valid expamples of the photographer's work. Kevin says yes, while Wayne says no. What's your opinion? Let us know with an email to unclejonesyscameras@gmail.com. Meanwhile, Kevin presents a review of Stephen Shore's book, The Nature of Photographs, and Wayne leads a discussion of large format camera movements. The Shutter Brothers finish the show with some excellent listener email. We are grateful for all our listeners, especially those who write to us. Shutter Brothers Wayne and Kevin are back with some great listener email about mixing your own photo chemistry, wide angle lenses for large format cameras, and a topic close to Wayne's heart: spreading kindness through art. Wayne ielplains how he is rebooting his Random Acts of Art project by making small prints, matting them, and leaving them in random places for people to find. Meanwhile, Kevin continues to work out which cameras to take to Ireland this fall, and his most reason idea allows for him to shoot both color and b&w film with the same camera. Listen to find out how. Happy Photography everyone!
