Today Justin talks with Miles Hargrove. Miles has worked for more than 20 years behind the scenes in the film industry as a cinematographer, editor, and camera operator, including on major feature films such as The Last Castle and the Harry Potter series. But long before his start in films, Miles was living with his family in Cali, Colombia, where his father, Thomas Hargrove, worked as a freelance journalist for the agriculture industry. In 1994, Thomas was kidnapped by FARC rebels and held for nearly a year. His wife, children, and friends banded together to negotiate with his captors for his release. Afterwards, their ordeal became the basis for the film Proof of Life, starring Russell Crowe and Dave Morse. Miles filmed everything that year using their home video camera, which he produced as the 2020 documentary Miracle Fishing: Kidnapped in Colombia.
