In the last episode, we saw how an urgent message can make you react too quickly. Today, we're going to talk about passwords, especially a common habit: using the same password in several places.
Get the full text here: speakenglishpodcast.com/392-dont-let-them-rush-you/ Today, we're starting a short series about staying safe online. And I want to begin with one of the simplest tricks scammers use. They rush you. Maybe you get a message that says: "Your bank account will be blocked in one hour." Or: "We couldn't deliver your package. Confirm your information now." You read it, and your quiet morning suddenly feels like an emergency. That's the idea. Everything has to happen now—apparently, even before you finish your coffee. A common online trick is called phishing.
Have you ever heard a news story and wished you knew a little more? Maybe you first heard about it in your own language. But English can give you another way to learn about the same event. You can read another report or listen to an interview from somewhere else. Then you can compare it with the news you already know. I do not mean that English reports are always right. No language has all the facts. But English can give you more choices. Get the full text on my website for free: https://speakenglishpodcast.com/391-english-and-the-news/
Today, I want to help you tell simple stories in English without getting stuck. In this episode, there are many new expressions. So, make sure you get the transcript at: SpeakEnglishPodcast.com/podcast Maybe you know this feeling. You start telling someone what happened yesterday, and your brain suddenly asks, "What tense do I need?" And then... silence. Usually, you are trying to make every sentence perfect. Hi, everybody! I'm Georgiana, your English teacher and founder of SpeakEnglishPodcast.com. Recently, one of my students from Singapore asked me a very good question: "How does listening help me speak English?" Maybe you've wondered the same thing. You probably know that listening is important, but how does it actually help you speak? When you listen to English that you understand, your brain hears many examples of how English works. You hear common words, useful expressions, pronunciation, rhythm, and the way words naturally go together. Today, I want to talk about a story you probably know, at least a little: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. I thought this would be a fun way to discover—or maybe rediscover—a famous English story while practicing your English. Maybe you read Alice in Wonderland when you were younger. Maybe you watched one of the movie versions. Or maybe you only know that there's a girl called Alice, a white rabbit, and a very strange place called Wonderland. Today, we are going to talk about awkward travel moments and, more specifically, what to say in English when they happen. Traveling can be exciting, but it can also be a little uncomfortable. Sometimes you are tired, in a hurry, or surrounded by noise, and suddenly even a simple sentence seems difficult.
