Dylan Adler enters the archives on December 17, 2019 at The Sultan Room on the show Good God. The next time I see him, shows have moved outside. Everyone's in a mask. No one knows when that'll be over. We talk navigating career momentum during the pandemic, a Quibi pilot, balancing performance in person vs. online. I give a lecture about email. Ed Larson enters the archives on April 19, 2010 with Henry Zebrowski. This episode covers the Murderfist move from Florida to New York, his time as a cook, a brief stint as a proper office employee (hated it!), the start of Round Table of Gentlemen, and many Murderfist shows. We got through two boxes of photos, covering up to the Fall of 2015. Currently, you can see Ed on Last Podcast on the Left on Netflix and on a few remaining dates of the Side Stories tour. Episode highlights include A Murderfist set getting interrupted by Kevin and Jermaine. Murderfist gets a portrait on their stoop. I censor images because I’m afraid the photo printer won’t understand Murderfist humor.Want to join the Fun?? Henry Zebrowski enters the archives with Murderfist at Whiplash at UCB Theater on April 19, 2010. Soon, he and his sketch group, Murderfist, team up with a Texan, Marcus Parks, and start recording podcasts. While industry tells him nothing will ever come from the podcast thing, he's also out performing on character showcases and stand up shows. You may already know the rest of Henry's story. Maybe you were a fan his Adult Swim show Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell. Maybe you love him on Last Podcast on the Left. Images from those projects do appear directly or tangentially in the archives, but we didn't get to them in this episode. We got caught up in the sheer... shock? Of seeing these early images. This does mean we get to do another episode. Thank god.Want to join the Fun?? Support us here:https://mindys-comedy-archives.ghost.io/Click here to watch a video of this episode. Matteo Lane enters the archives at The Creek and The Cave's Thanksgiving celebration on November 22, 2012. Over the next few years, he is on every major show in rapid succession. Our interview covers his time living in an attic while hitting the open mics with fellow comedian Evan Wiliams all the way through his audition at The Cellar. (It went well!) Now, Matteo is successfully touring everywhere. You can see his special on Hulu , get some much needed advice from Matteo and his fellow comedians on his Youtube, and see him in person whenever you can! Want to join the Fun?? New Yorker cartoonist and Late Show writer Asher Perlman enters the archives at The Bell House in December of 2019. He's back at The Bell House a month later and then... I don't see him again until June of 2024. Asher explains this gap in the archives, writing for Colbert, his pandemic project of becoming a cartoonist, learning a double-pump dunk, and much more in our episode.Asher's on Substack. He has a podcast too!! (edited) Want to join the Fun?? Support us here:https://mindys-comedy-archives.ghost.io/Click here to watch a video of this episode. Marianne Ways, comedy booker and producer brings in HER photos of NYC comedy from 2003 - 2008. You'll see photos in the tray from Marianne's point and shoot camera. Calling all comedy nerds! Check these snippets from just the first 15 minutes of our chat: Wet Hot American Summer, Paul Rudd as Freddie Mercury, Marianne learns from Amy Poehler that you cannot take flash photos during a comedy show. Stella at Fez, Mike Birbiglia, Kristen Schaal, Nick Kroll, Zach Galifianakis. A lost video of Flight of the Conchords performing to a room of six people. Maya Rudolph on Soundtracks Live. John Oliver at Rififi! Marianne will be putting these photos and more together in a zine. I'll be there at her launch at The Bell House on October 5. Come say hello! Want to join the Fun?? Wyatt Cenac enters the archives in 2008 at Comix shortly after moving to NYC for The Daily Show. He shows up in photos at Whiplash, Bowery Electric, and Hannibal's Comedy in a Garage at Matchless, a precursor to the much loved Knitting Factory show. While we didn't get to Wyatt's show, Night Train, in this ep, you can see the ones taped for Seeso here. We'll get to that era in the next episode. You can also celebrate Night Train at the upcoming Hot Butter Train show at The Bell House. It's a kick-off for Marianne Ways' Kickstarter! Want to join the Fun?? Jo Firestone enters the archives on August 24, 2014 at Shea Stadium (not that one, the artsy one in Bushwick.) at the The Macaulay Culkin Show. Once Jo enters the archives, we see her... A LOT! She's on Whiplash, Big Terrific, 50 First Jokes all in a row. The archives have a least 2 instances of Jo working leading the audience in "I Have Been There". Jo was SO busy in 2014 and 2015 that... we didn't even make it to 2016 in this episode. A perfect excuse to have her back for another episode.Want to join the Fun??
