Ash Taylor is a country music recording artist and award-winning songwriter whose music is rooted in grit, heart, and lived experience. Originally from Bakersfield, California—the birthplace of the legendary Bakersfield Sound—Ash carries that raw, unapologetic edge into everything she does. Inspired by trailblazers like Buck Owens, Loretta Lynn, Brandy Clark, and Gretchen Wilson, she blends classic country soul with a modern, hard-earned perspective. With an unshakable belief in her calling, Ash sold everything she owned and moved to Nashville, Tennessee, determined to build a career on her own terms. Her journey has been anything but easy. From sleeping in her car to playing honky-tonks on Lower Broadway, Ash worked relentlessly to carve out her place in country music. That determination has led her to stages across the country, performances at iconic venues like The Bluebird Café, and opportunities to share the stage with artists including William Michael Morgan, Aaron Tippin, Elvie Shane, Allie Walker, and more. Her debut EP, Bakersfield, climbed to #60 on the iTunes Top 100 Country Albums chart and earned recognition from the Bakersfield Country Music Awards. As a songwriter, Ash has also written for artists such as Big Smo, Ryan Larkins, Noah Smith, and guitar legend Johnny Hiland. Beyond her own music, Ash is deeply committed to storytelling with purpose. She hosts the ASH-PHALT podcast, sharing honest conversations and stories from the road, serves as an ambassador for 22 Zero, and partners with veterans to help tell their stories through song. Ash also mentors and teaches songwriting through workshops and masterclasses, helping the next generation of writers find their voice. She lives in Nashville with her husband Chris—her lead guitar player and band leader—and their golden retriever, Melody (Mel). Whether she’s writing, recording, teaching, or standing under the lights on stage, Ash Taylor creates music that’s real, fearless, and grounded in an unwavering love for God, country, and the truth.

Choreography Insights: Creating Dance MagicExploring the creative process behind choreography and performance.Welcome back to another episode of Lyric in Motion. This week, I’m diving into the art of choreography. For those of you who are dancers, choreographers, or simply curious about the behind-the-scenes process of a Choreographer, this episode is for you.The Choreographer's JourneyWith over 20 years of experience in choreography and 30 years of performance, I've had the privilege of working across various platforms—from theme parks , cruise ships,to national tours. Currently, I’m in the thick of choreographing a new Christmas segment for the Country Roads USA show in Nashville, and it’s a wonderful reminder of the layers that go into creating a dance.Starting with a Blank CanvasEvery choreography begins with a blank canvas. The process starts with me visualizing the end product. Often, I work from a pre-written script and music, allowing me to focus on how to bring the story to life through movement. “Living with the music is key. I want to feel the dynamics and rhythms that will guide the choreography.”— Laurin Floyd TurnerThe Creative ProcessWhen I step into the studio, my first task is to immerse myself in the music and script. Understanding the overall picture is essential, especially for variety shows that share different styles of dance. For example, when working on a piece, I consider the dynamics of the cast, the stage setup, and the transitions between numbers, ensuring everything flows cohesively.Adapting on the FlyChoreography is not just about having a set plan; it requires flexibility. Sometimes, the steps I envision don't translate perfectly when teaching them to the cast. That's where adaptability comes in. Knowing the cast’s strengths and weaknesses is crucial, especially in situations where I might not have a say in the casting process. Having access to their reels or social media helps me understand how to tailor the choreography to suit them.ConclusionCreating choreography is an intricate process that goes beyond just setting steps to music. It involves a collaboration with a team from the writer/director to the sound and lights. An understanding of the storyline, the cast, and considering external factors like stage conditions. Knowing when to create dynamic moments that fit with the dynamics of the song. Having flexibility/ options to change phrases on the spot and skills in Teaching the choreography you have created.I encourage fellow dancers and choreographers to share their experiences and methods—there’s so much we can learn from one another.INSTA:Instagram: lyricinmotionpodcastPerformance Coaching: BOOK A CALL with ME!https://stan.store/laurinfloyd

Auditioning isn’t just about talent - it starts the second you walk in the door! The biggest thing I learned after 30+ years in this business? People are watching how you treat the lobby, the sign-in table, and the room before they even watch your talent.Be confident, not cocky.Research who you’re auditioning for.Wear something that makes you memorable. And if you can show your real range - vocally, physically, or stylistically - do it.The safe version of you is usually the one they forget. Also, never forget: you’re auditioning all the time. How you show up can open doors long after the audition is over!Save this if you’re trying to book more gigs, and tag a performer who needs this reminder! What’s one audition lesson you had to learn the hard way?Performance coaching with Laurin ; https://stan.store/laurinfloydemail: Lyricinmotion22@gmail.cominsta: Instagram: lyricinmotionpodcast
