Luke 10:1–4, 17–20 We are taking a brief pause from our Mark series to bring back one of our most popular episodes from 2025. In this week’s episode Jesus sends out 72 followers to share the good news. When they return, they are amazed — even the demons obeyed in Jesus’ name! But Jesus teaches them something even greater: “Do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” Jesus sent out 72 workers to prepare the way and tell people that God’s kingdom had come. The disciples were amazed by the power they saw, like superheroes in real life. Jesus reminded them that the greatest joy isn’t power — it’s knowing that our names are written in heaven. If you believe in Jesus, you belong to Him forever. That’s better than any superpower. ------------- We have supported children via Compassion international for over 10 years because WE LOVE what they do. Mark 8: 1-13 We continue our journey through Mark with the feeding of the four thousand. In a remote place with no way to purchase enough food, Jesus sees the hungry crowd and responds with compassion. Seven loaves and a few small fish could never feed thousands on their own—but Jesus is not limited by what his disciples have. Kids will compare this miracle with the feeding of the five thousand from episode 423, discover what was similar and different, and consider why the Pharisees continued asking Jesus for a sign after all he had done. This story reminds us that Jesus is compassionate and mighty. What seems impossible to us is never beyond him. ------------- We have supported children via Compassion international for over 10 years because WE LOVE what they do. Scripture : Mark 7:31–37; Isaiah 35:4–6Series: The Gospel of Mark, Part 27 Jesus meets a man who cannot hear and can hardly speak. Through personal, compassionate actions and one powerful command—“Be opened!”—Jesus completely heals him. Children will discover how this miracle fulfills God’s promise through Isaiah and reveals Jesus as the promised King, compassionate healer, and Savior. In this episode, kids will: Hear the account of Jesus healing a deaf man who could hardly speak. Notice how Jesus communicated with the man in a way he could understand. Learn that Jesus’ authority is not magic—He has power as the Son of God. Connect the miracle in Mark with God’s promise in Isaiah 35. Be encouraged to trust God’s promises while waiting for Jesus to return. Central takeaway: God kept His promise to send Jesus, so we can trust that He will keep every promise—including His promise that Jesus will return and make all things new. ------------- We have supported children via Compassion international for over 10 years because WE LOVE what they do. Scripture References: Mark 7:17–30; Matthew 28:18–20; Romans 5:8 Jesus travels to the region of Tyre, where a Gentile mother boldly asks Him to heal her daughter. Jesus answers with a short parable about children’s bread and little dogs. Although His words may sound insulting to us at first, Jesus was not cruelly insulting this hurting mother. His parable showed the order of His ministry—Israel first, and then the Gentiles. In this episode, kids will: Learn what the word Gentile means. Learn what a parable is and better understand Jesus’ parable about the children’s bread and the little dogs. Discover that Jesus is the promised Messiah and Savior of people from every nation. Understand that grace and salvation are gifts from Jesus—not rewards we earn by being good enough. Like the mother in this story, we can approach Jesus not because we’ve been perfect but because He is good—and “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). ------------- We have supported children via Compassion international for over 10 years because WE LOVE what they do. Mark 7:9–23 Jesus continues His conversation with the Pharisees and teachers of the law, showing how human traditions can become excuses for disobeying God. Through the example of Corban, Jesus reveals that something can sound religious while still hiding a heart that is far from Him. Then Jesus turns everyone’s attention from what is outside the body to what is within. In this episode, kids will learn: God’s Word has greater authority than human traditions. A good activity should never become an excuse for disobedience. Biblical “heart” is not the heart organ in our chest and is explained. Our circumstances may reveal anger, envy, pride, or other sin already within us- kid examples used to help them grasp this. Everyone who repents and trusts in Jesus is forgiven and made right with God. Big idea Sin begins within our hearts, and only Jesus can forgive and cleanse our sinful hearts A Note for Parents Because families listen with children of different ages and at different stages of development, Verse 21 has been adapted with young listeners in mind. Parents may wish to read the complete passage below and explain its terms in the way they believe is most appropriate for their family: “For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.” —Mark 7:21–23 We LOVE Real Cool History for Kids podcast and know you will too! Check it out! Scripture: Mark 7:1–8, Romans 13 The Pharisees and teachers of the law looked devoted to God. They knew Scripture, followed many religious traditions, and appeared very obedient. But when they criticized Jesus’ disciples for eating without performing a ceremonial washing, Jesus revealed what was truly happening beneath their outward appearance: they honored God with their words, but their hearts were far from Him. In this episode, children will learn : 1. That good-looking actions do not always flow from a heart that loves God. 2. We’ll explore the difference between real fruit and “pretend fruit” 3. Discover how God’s commands show us what love looks like. 4. Remember that we obey God because He loved us first—not to earn His love or impress others. 5. We still obey even if we don't feel like it. BOTH options help support and get shout-outs! 1. Scripture: Mark 6:45–56 After feeding 5,000 people, Jesus sends His disciples across the lake. When strong winds leave them struggling in the darkness, Jesus comes to them—walking on the water! In this episode, kids will discover that Jesus is the powerful King and Lord over creation. We’ll also learn that He is a patient, faithful Shepherd who cares for His people even when they are afraid or slow to understand. When fear comes, we can remember who Jesus is, look back on His faithfulness, and ask Him to help us trust Him. BOTH options help support and get shout-outs! 1. Scripture: Mark 6:30–44; Psalm 23:1; John 10:11 Jesus and his disciples are searching for a quiet place to rest—but thousands of people follow them. When Jesus sees the crowd, he has deep compassion because they are like sheep without a shepherd. In this episode, children will hear how Jesus miraculously feeds more than five thousand people with only five loaves and two fish. They’ll discover that Jesus is the Good Shepherd who sees, cares for, and provides for his sheep. The disciples could not perform the miracle, but Jesus invited them to participate. They brought him what they had and trusted him to do what only he could do.
