Perpetua 53: Up and Down 01
Long before there was an Elevana League, there were the Elven city-states, rivalrous and fragmented. Across centuries, they skirmished over territory, bickered about resources, and contended for prestige. It was only when an invading empire pushed them to the breaking point that they tempered their singular ambitions, united against their would-be-conquerers, and became a nation. At least that's how the story goes. And it is that story which they celebrate here, in Lumai, the Gleaming Fortress, which traces its own history back to those battles of lore and epic—and to the mythical favor of Lucena, Bringer of Light. She was so impressed with their efforts, it is said, that she gifted them her moon, brighter in day than the world's sun, yet most tranquil in nightglow among all the satellites of the Ennead… Every year the sun slowly ticks, day by day, into place above that constant moon. An inverted eclipse. A stellar occasion for the dignitaries of the League to come together: Theia Galani, Ice Princess. Toirneach, Lightning Rider. Doctor Hashin, Herbal Minister. Aisling Revanj, fiery Hexcloak. Historian Whish, my pupil. Hardrock Metch of Marl. Athon, High Cleric of Castine. Saylea Fen, Shadow Governor of Umbexia. And of course, Adrius Aegier, the High Marshall of Lumai, the head of the Order of the Bright Wall, and older brother of Hexcloak chief Thereus Aegir. They come together to celebrate the founding of the League, to dance and feast under twice-bright light. But Lumai rumbles with rumor. Soldier-engineers work double duty, erecting a new wall just outside of town. Hexcloaks arrive unannounced and move unimpeded. And something draws nearer over the horizon… This week on Perpetua: Perpetua Guide [In Progress v.062] Ongoing Mysteries - Dragon Path (Known Entrances and Exits) [OMDPE] The Dragon Path is a system for quickly traveling long distances across the game world. This is really important if you're going to do a lot of exploration before getting an airship! Simply playing the main scenario (on either continent) will inevitably bring you to at least the edge of one entrance to the Dragon Path. In the eastern story, a painting in Cenn puts you on a direct path towards Lumai (with a detour). In the western campaign, you'll first enter the Path during the open quest to the Dragon Tower, and then in the Clayridge Mountains you'll likely fall "randomly" into the Path (you'll end up at the same detour as the eastern party). But there are many other ways into and out of the path. Obviously, there's the entrance painting in Lumai, since that's where you exit from if you take the one in Cenn. Below are the others I've found so far. Let me know if you've found others! Stitchscore: The painting in the trophy case. Ruins of the Grand Academy: There's a hole-like entrance under some rubble in the northern district near the water. Veruz: I haven't actually seen this one, but I've read a note from a member of the Way of Fearless Truth talking about some priest having one in his room. Duriel, The Shattered Colosseum: There's a painting in the Temple of Zephius. Terroir (Grand Sonnerie): Check the basement in the Old Vintner's House! Burzin: In the basement of the Post Office ruins. Salix: There's a painting in the basement of the Bates house! Bates like Arley Bates from Perpetua Prelude, I wonder if his family got that after the Prelude, or if that's something he actually had down there the whole time. (Also wow, a lot of hidden entry points in basements!) Cenn: You can't actually seem to find one in Cenn, but there is a secret Dragon Path detection device you can find if you search for the right vendor. Parisolia: The Foreman's House has one, but it only leads literally to a different place in the same city! (The Mine Owner's House). Hosted by Austin Walker (austinwalker.bsky.social) Featuring Janine Hawkins (@bleatingheart), Sylvi Bullet (@sylvibullet), and Keith

Perpetua 52: At the Threshold 04
On a small isle in the southwestern reach of the Valte Archipelego, the crew of the Little Snail sits in frustration. Their ultimate destination has been made clear to them: A continent to the south, separated not only by distance, but by a seemingly unbreachable power. How will they breach such a barrier, and more, what might it mean that their cyclical predecessors often faced a similarly fatal obstacle on the path to their great destinies…? This week on Perpetua: At the Threshold 04 Perpetua Guide [In Progress v.061] Some Feedback [Page 77 of 78] Alukard83 So, does anyone know how to actually play The Speel. xXZelgadyskXx I looked everywhere, even found a way to get to Stitchscore (the town that's all about games and sports from the demo?), but I just don't think it's in the game. Or at the very least least not on disc one. I've definitely been collecting as many pieces as I can just in case it shows up later though! Alukard83 Oh no, I meant like, in real life. Have you found the rules explained anywhere? It would be cool if they sold a set. DoomTreeAnne You know I don't like to be a naysayer or a "Negative Nancy," but I don't think they could really do that… If you paid close attention when it first came up (both in Perpetua Prelude and when the party finds its first piece and the concept gets introduced), there's a line about the game having thousands and thousands of pieces. Perpetua would have to be way more popular to make a game with thousands of little miniatures like that! Alukard83 You could make it like a card game. CCGs have tons of cards. TheUnforgivenIII OMG, you're a card game freak!! That's why you have "kard" in your name. Card games are gay as hell. It needs to be a cool war game where you have huge badass armies fighting each other. That's why there are so many pieces, because you need to put a ton of them on the table and make them fight. You could even customize your army and paint them differently. FriendOfNei Can we not use "gay" like that, Unforgiven? Mods? CarlsSr "Card games are gay. I'm a big tough man. The only thing I love more than heavy metal music is painting my cute little figurines." TheDiamondRanger My mom says its okay to be gay and my uncle is even one but she won't let me buy any card games cause she says they're paper casinos. Perpetua 51: At the Threshold 03
Aloft above the sea, the Adventure Beckons and the staff of the Little Snail head towards a small island in the Valte archipelago. There, they seek information on the White Lectern from the members of the Luminaries—a group which Nicky, Elena, and Veile have found themselves newly oathed. What answers will they find in such a place? And will they meet a new ally… or someone altogether more troubling? This week on Perpetua: At the Threshold 03 Perpetua Guide [In Progress v.061] Some Feedback [Page 76 of 76] FriendofNei It's rare that I do anything like this but I'm curious… what do you all think is behind the barrier on Nightglow Island? At this point, I've been bouncing around the world, clearing up sidequests before I head there and (presumably) finish up the first disc. And please remember, we don't talk about anything in this thread that isn't already currently covered in my guide, so if you already went there, don't give me the deets! TheDiamondRanger Oh, it's the white lectern. It says so in the official strategy guide. What do you want to know about it? xXZelgadyskXx Diamond! Nei just said not to talk about stuff from after where the guide is! He wanted guesses, not information! TheDiamondRanger Ohhhhhhhh. I'm sorry. I meant, SPOILER ALERT SPOILER WARNING SPOILERS COMING UP it's the white lectern. DoomTreeAnne Diamond… Please give the forum rules a read when you get a chance. We wouldn't want another regular getting banned before Unforgiven is even back! Anyway, in this case, I'm pretty sure the conversation with Doctor Cinnabar does already mention the White Lectern. So that part isn't technically a "spoiler" anyway. But what the White Lectern actually is… now that's a whole other story. Now, a "lectern" is a sort of standing desk that you can read from, like when you read out loud at Church. That comes from the Latin (well, from the French and then the Latin) "lego" which means "I read." Except… It doesn't only mean "I read." It originally means "I gather" or "I choose." (I guess reading is sort of like "gathering" words, though I think that's more like writing!) Anyway, that makes me wonder. Is the White Lectern a place where someone reads or where something gets gathered and chosen? CarlsSr Diamond can't read the rules because if he did, he'd see you have to be 13 before you're allowed to post here. TheDiamondRanger ACTUALLY I'll be 13 next tuesday! (This user was temporarily banned for this post. They will be unbanned next Tuesday.) CarlsSr Sorry, I meant that Diamond can't read the rules because he can't read. Perpetua 50: At the Threshold 02
With the Adventure Beckons resting just outside of town, Nicky, Elena, and Veile have traveled into town to complete two important tasks: Recovering a gem sold by mistake and reconnecting with Thelonious, member of the Luminaries, to find direction on where to go next. With new connections forged, they return to their ship (and its captain), and set off into the skies, where dark clouds gather on the horizon… This week on Perpetua: At the Threshold 02 Perpetua Guide [In Progress v.061] Random Encounters - [PPRE] Sky Encounters Once you've got yourself the Adventure Beckons, you're able to travel from place to place on Perpetua's Sky Layer. And that means there's a whole new pool of Random Encounters. I've gathered some of the ones I've seen here, but I'm just getting started. Let me know any others you've hit and I'll try to find them and integrate them! Barnacle Cloud [REBC] You'd think this only triggers when you fly through clouds on the map, but it can happen anywhere. This is a mini-game, but bad enough performance can eventually make it a combat encounter. Elena is your best bet on this, because she can just toast them with fire magic. But if you use Nicky, you'll end up with some useful ingredients! Valte Wreckage [REVR] These you can actually spot on the ground and trigger on purpose, though what you can't determine is which "Valte Wreckage" encounter you'll load into. Most of the time, the wreckage is a fortress the Valte wrecked with their airship bombs. Sometimes, the wreckage is one of the big V-wing Valte ships itself, crashed in the ground. And in both cases there's a chance that you'll trigger an actual fight against Valte soldiers once you land and hop out of your ship! Balloon Festival [REBF] Over friendly territory, you can sometimes load into another mini-game. Well, I guess it's a mini-game. It's a "Hot Air Balloon Festival," and you can customize your the Adventure Beckon's big blimp-like balloon. Then you can see a sort of wide angle shot of it floating around with the other, regular balloons. Why would you do that? Um… Just cause, I guess? Valte Boarding [REVB] Some Valte board your ship and depending on when it is in the story (and who you've upset), there's a chance it turns hostile quick. And let me clear up some confusion: This is always a possibility. It's just that the closer to the Valte archipelago that you're flying, the more likely this one is. Kleye Glider [REKG] This is basically a duplicate of the Kleye fight you can get between Calstega Bay and Spillwater Peaks. I don't know how they're shooting clay pirates up high enough to hit the airship, but they're doing it. Worse: the more that get on there, the lower the Adventure Beckons gets, which makes it even easier for them to get more guys onboard! Draconic Eagle [REGE] The way you load into combat and the unique music starts playing, you'd think this was some sort of bonus challenge boss… But it seems like it's actually a puzzle or something? I managed to Scan it once, and it starts in Crisis, and within three turns, it always flees. Maybe there's an objective action you can do? Perpetua 49: At the Threshold 01
For hours, unto days, unto weeks, the crew of the LIttle Snail delved the Castle Eschatonica with their new allies, the Source Rot Investigators from the Elevana League. In the heart of the void, these adventurers escaped the wrath of dragons, met a fallen god, recovered lost, living gems… and found not only a route out, but a whole new method of travel entirely. Jonathan named his new airship 'The Adventures Beckons,' and so, it does: But before it can be attended to in earnest—before he, Elena, Nicky, Veile, Flegbot, and their coterie of gems—can find and reach the White Lectern—they must first say goodbye to the little town of Spillaway Peaks, where Terapine ever-strive to prepare for the cycle's end. But when will that end be? Is it still centuries away, or might the many ill portents across Perpetua prove what some whisper: The clock runs short. The stars have faltered. An inverted eclipse. Cattle, obliterated. The return of dragons. Fire, cataclysmic. Invasion and War. Prayers go unanswered. A ruinous wind. It is to this moment, this Perpetua-in-crisis, that the Little Snail and its roving staff returns to. Are the days of easy adventuring behind them? Is there no more blue in the sky now that they can traverse it? These are questions they dare not stop to answer. For it is time to prepare: To master this new vessel. To gather supplies for the journey. To meet new allies. To take new oaths. And to learn (or to remember) that it is never guaranteed that you can go home again. This week on Perpetua: At the Threshold 01 Perpetua Guide [In Progress v.061] Some Feedback [Page 73 of 75] TheUnforgivenIII Okay. Do NOT be an @$$h0le to me, because you all KNOW I hate asking for help. But I can't tell if I hit a weird bug or something. I finished up Castle Eschatonica finally last night and my Tidaline party got put back up in the southern part of the Clayridge Mountains (as expected). I wanted to go down into Spillaway Peaks to restock on some stuff when leaving, but it won't let me. Like I can walk down one area from where the airship is, and then when I get to the edge of the zone, it just pops up a Do Not Enter type sign. Is this bugged. Alukard83 Uh, well… Is Jonathan in your party? TheUnforgivenIII Uh, well… didn't I JUST say I had the airship? So OBVIOUSLY he's in my party. Alukard83 UH, WELL, SO, OBVIOUSLY, YOU CAN'T GO BACK INTO SPILLAWAY PEAKS IF YOU GOT THE AIRSHIP FROM THE BECKONINGS. THAT WAS THE COST OF THE AIRSHIP xXZelgadyskXx You're right, but come on, there's no need to shout XD Just swap Jonathan out of your party for now Unforgiven. Then you can go into town. TheUnforgivenIII UH WELL SO OBVIOUSLY YOU CAN GO STRAIGHT TO HELL ALUCARD. IF THAT WAS TRUE THEY SHOULD'VE ACTUALLY TOLD ME THAT IN THE GAME. THE WAY IT WAS PHRASED WAS AMBIBIGUOUS ASND YOU COULD READ IT DIFERENTLY THAN THAT. I THOUGHT IT MEANT YOU COULDN'T GO BACK INTO JONATHANS FAMILY (WHO SUCKS) HOUSE, SO IT WASN'T REALLY A COST ATALL. BUT NOW YOUR SAYING I CANT EVEN GO FUCKING SHOPPING WITH JONATHAN ANYMORE? WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET A RADNOM ENCOUNTER, DO I JUST NOT GET TO HAVE MY STRONGEST CHARACTER??????? Perpetua 48: Escape from the Rumbling Castle! 08
All aboard the Adventure Beckons! Drawn back together after a disastrous time apart, a reunited team of Eschatonica explorers must fight their way to escape. But the Creed of Oracle's most determined soldiers haven't given up on taking Jonathan's new airship back yet… This week on Perpetua: Escape the Rumbling Castle! 08 Perpetua Guide [In Progress v.06] Some Feedback [Page 69 of 71] FriendofNei So what was everyone's favorite part of Eschatonica? For me, it was getting to mix up the two parties and see how their abilities worked together. Antistrophe, Nicky, and Jonathan are a real powerhouse team! Doom_Tree_Anne I loved mixing the parties too, but more for the special conversations you can get! I hope Brontë can spend more time with Veile and Elena later in the game. TheDiamondRanger Why? Do they get cool bonuses? Doom_Tree_Anne Haha, no, I just like to see them together n.n;;;;;; TheUnforgivenIII The Redolencia and Ichoria Celestial Echoes were fuggin bad ass. I gotta go play those games, they seem metal as hell. Doom_Tree_Anne Oh, they are quite metal indeed! I'd say that was my favorite part as well. Especially getting to see the Agonies rendered in the Perpetua style! What a treat for a long time fan! Alukard83 I loved the Agonies, but I wish they got to stick around long term. I think my favorite part was the exploration. I loved mapping out all the hallways and dead ends. TheUnforgivenIII Why would you like like to map out a dead end. It's a dead end. Dumbass. Lol page 69 btw TheDiamondRanger Why is that Lol? CarlsSr Log off until you're old enough to post. Perpetua 47: Escape from the Rumbling Castle! 07
With a single step, a world shattered and the stars faltered. Those who witnessed the destruction must face the future and pick up the pieces, but first they must escape the Dragon Path and return home—or at least near it. To do that, though, they'll need to capture Jonathan's airship, the Adventure Beckons, from the Creed of Oracles… This week on Perpetua: Escape the Rumbling Castle! 07 Perpetua Guide [In Progress v.06] NPCs & Monsters [PNMS] Creed of Oracles Infantry [NMCOIN] Typical Traits: Gritty, Grim Type: Humanoid Hunter Level: 10 Rank: Soldier Stats: DEX 10, INS 8, MIG 10, WLP 6 Attacks: Holy Salvo, Forceful Flurry Special Abilities: Summon Platemail Elemental Affinities: RES: Physical | VUL: Dark, Poison In-Game Description: With blessed light armor, rifle, and bayonet, Infantry make up the bulk of the Oracle's ranks. The rank-and-file soldier in the Creed of Oracles. If you decide to rush across the open courtyard when you first arrive to area of the castle, you can fight an infinite number of these guys. They aren't especially hardy, but their Holy Salvo is built specifically to knock out sturdy physical characters, so don't underestimate them! Starter Tip: If you can do it, try to dispel their summoned platemail, it'll make fighting them toe to toe a lot easier. Hovering Pyroclastic Typical Traits: Precise, Devoted, Short-fused Type: Humanoid Support Level: 10 Rank: Soldier Stats: DEX 8, INS 8, MIG 6, WLP 10 Attacks: Ignition, Volcanic Charge Special Abilities: Flying, Bracing Ash Elemental Affinities: RES: AIr, Earth [Can gain Fire] | VUL: Dark, Ice, [Starts with Fire] In-Game Description: A soldier in the robes and armor of the Creed of Oracles with flamethrower and a number of volcanic explosives at their belt. These floating demolitionists punch through your elemental defenses and their volcanic charges are like sticky grenades that give a boost to anything that hits your side of the field. Most importantly: They can cover themselves in a magical ash that will boost their might and give them a Fire resistance. Once they do this, they sort of become solid all-arounders, so it's best to knock them out before they can do that. Starter Tip: Hit them with Dark or Ice damage to bring them down to melee range! Fares, Devout Chef Traits: Tricky, Inventive, Religious, Adaptable Type: Humanoid Saboteur Level: 10 Rank: Soldier Stats: DEX 8, INS 8, MIG 8, WLP 8 Attacks: Poison Vial Special Abilities: Bottled Vigour, Enervating Powder Elemental Affinities: RES: Earth, Fire, Light| VUL: Air, Dark, Ice In-Game Description: A chef of the Creed of Oracles. Master of the Kitchen and Pantry. This guy SUCKS! I don't even mean in combat, he's fine to fight. But as a character, I hate how he can draw you into conflict. There's basically only one way through his conversation tree that doesn't draw you either into combat with him immediately (with reinforcements coming soon after) or up into the Barracks where his friends are. Personally, I prefer to just knock him out ASAP and then sneak up to the hidden passage a few rooms away. Starter Tip: If he manages to poison you, don't forget to use your IP for an Antitote. Poisoned doesn't do damage over times like in some games, instead it saps BOTH your Might and Willpower, so whether it hits a bruiser or a mage, you're in trouble! Ushala, Conduit Traits: Mysterious, Possessed, Sacrificial Type: Demon Mage Level: 10 Rank: Soldier Stats: DEX 10, INS 8, MIG 10, WLP 6 Attacks: Heaven's Light, Heaven's Glory, Heaven's Call Special Abilities

Perpetua 46: Escape the Rumbling Castle! 06
Confrontations with Villains need not be catastrophic. Some hostile encounters, including those against enemy bosses, can be de-escalated through conversation or completed through clever use of Objective action. Parties specializing in tools of foresight can leverage their navigational upperhand to outmaneuver potentially deadly encounters all together. Some clashes—especially those with reality-shaking stakes—seem written into the fabric of Perpetua itself. But even these, despite the long odds, have many possible resolutions. This week on Perpetua: Escape the Rumbling Castle! 06 Perpetua Guide [In Progress v.06] Some Feedback [Page 68 of 68] CarlsSr So uh, has anyone won the big fight in Eschatonica? TheUnforgivenIII Holeeeeeyyyyy $#!+!!! HOT SHOT CARLS SR (more like JUNIOR) FINALLY HAS TO ASK US LOWLY NOOBS A QUESTION. Not such a big shot one-liner now are you. Finally got brought down to your knees by the Creed of Oracles and their holy knights, huh? Doom_Tree_Anne Okay, Unforgiven, let's dial it back a little bit. Not everyone is perfect. In fact, you even got something wrong in your post. They're not "holy knights," which you would know if you had played Armidirge II: Marcellina's Tears (which came out in the US and UK as Armidirge 2: Holy Reign). About halfway through the game, right after the destruction of the East Cathedral, Beri calls Carcenia "one of those high-and-mighty holy knights of the Creed" and Carcenia says "Tsk. There haven't been holy knights for six hundred years. We are saints, revived!" In any case, I had a pretty hard time with that fight until I just let Antistrophe take the lead. You can really build him perfectly for the one-on-one fights! FriendOfNei Agreed on Antistrophe there, though if you mean the second fight with the Creed, there's a lot of other options. The key (I think) is making sure to get the second party involved as soon as possible. Otherwise you can really get overwhelmed, especially by Ushala with all that multi-target light damage she can do. CarlsSr Wait. You thought I was talking about THAT fight? Lololol, you really are all lost.
